Collection: Food Preparation

The UK has one of the largest processed food and food preparation industries in the world. The opportunity for outbreaks of contamination either bacterial or viral is significant, posing risks to public health, staff, and to the economic welfare of the production companies. The MedibLU UDF broad spectrum of kill is ideally suited to this sector, with no ingredients of concern, being plant-based, vegan approved, non-taint, and requiring no washing down of disinfected surfaces.

Food Preparation FAQ's

Is disinfectant food safe?

As guided by the UK government, any cleaning/disinfectant chemicals used in food establishments on both food contact surfaces, and equipment must be approved as being food safe! So, yes disinfectant can be food-safe, but this comes down to how it is used, and which disinfectant product is employed; these factors predict just how food-safe it is! The MedibLU UDF products are the perfect, food-safe, disinfectants! Made entirely from organic, safe ingredients that decontaminate all environments sufficiently; whilst also being gentle enough for disinfection in the food sector. This disinfectant also meets BS EN standards 13697 and 1276.

How do you disinfect food contact surfaces?

When using any MedibLU UDF products on food contact surfaces; the best and most effective way to use it is to simply apply the product to the surface, and then wait a set amount of time as guided in the instructions. This product can be used to both clean and disinfect, and reapplication is appropriate if needed. Leaving the product on the surface will kill any bacteria or viruses that may be present. Thanks to the organic, fully safe, and effective ingredients used in the product; you don’t need to rinse the product after either, saving you a step in the disinfection process. This product can be used to both clean and disinfect, and reapplication is appropriate if needed.

How often should a commercial kitchen be disinfected?

In the UK, it is by law that every commercial kitchen must be professionally cleaned and disinfected every six months! The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 states that all outlets must have a full cleaning protocol in place to ensure that hygiene and sanitation are kept to a high standard consistently! However, around this six-week deep clean, and to maintain a high, safe standard; workers within commercial kitchens must frequently decontaminate surfaces and utensils – with a safe disinfectant, like one from our MedibLU UDF range so that the products made in the kitchen are safe for consumption!

Are you allowed to use bleach in a commercial kitchen?

Despite its ability to fight off harmful bacteria and food poisoning, health and safety inspectors advise against the use of products containing chlorines and other bleaching substances when it comes to decontaminating food preparation surfaces and cooking equipment/utensils. This is why the UDF Antibacterial & Antiviral Disinfectant Surface Spray is ideal for the food sector as it is made of the safest but most effective, organic ingredients that put no human or animal at any risk no matter where it is used! This disinfectant also meets BS EN standards 13697 and 1276.

Can you use disinfectant on kitchen surfaces?

Absolutely! However, what you use to disinfect your kitchen surfaces, and how you use it is detrimental to the safety of food preparation in both home and commercial kitchens. The MedibLU UDF is the perfect product for disinfection of kitchen surfaces as it is fully food-safe, made entirely from organic, safe ingredients that decontaminate all environments sufficiently; whilst also being gentle enough for disinfection in the food sector. This disinfectant also meets BS EN standards 13697 and 1276, so you can be assured of its safety.
